Somerset Lions Club – Away Trip

We are running transport to a few away games in the second half of the season. In an attempt to avoid any confusion, we are setting out our plans well in advance so everyone knows the score upfront. There are two away specials planned with overnight stops, which Alan has planned, and he will be accompanying us on the trips to Blackburn and Middlesboro.

Complete the booking form and return to Glyn Hurst Somerset Lions chairman with your details. A non refundable deposit of £20 must be paid when booking.

Blackburn Rovers February 7th 2009.

Coach will start at Newton Abbot picking up along the M5 to Weston S Mare as normal.

This match will involve an overnight stay at hotel on the way back included in the price, subsidised by the supporters club for your loyalty.

Transport cost return including overnight accommodation in a Premier Inn type Hotel will be just £40.00 pp. The cost of the match ticket will be £25.00 Adult and £7.00 juniors, £15.00 senior Citizen. Match ticket prices are as listed now, and are subject to change.

Exact details will be sent out to all one month before the fixture.

This fixture is an annual event for the South West, and will involve a breakfast on the way up at one of our usual pub stops, a visit to the famous Fernhurst Villa Pub outside the stadium, and a stop over on the way home, with a curry lined up at the Hotel, which also has an excellent bar with normal “pub” prices. I think you will all agree this is exceptional package, £65.00 for Transport, Hotel and Match Ticket.

Prices are based on room share basis, anyone not sharing a room £15.00 surcharge applies.

Please complete the form, places are limited, first come first served £20.00 deposit cash now, Balance on January 7th – 14th 2009.

BOOKINGS

 Bolton – 6 remain

We are now taking bookings for Bolton.  This coincides with the xmas bash. (See below)

I have emailed confirmation to all members of their bookings for the above games.

If you have not received a confirmation email and believe that you were booked on for any of the above transport, then please contact me ASAP.  If you’ve not received an email, then you’re not on the above games.

Any queries whatsoever, please let us know.

 XMAS BASH

Alan has organised an exclusive Christmas event on Saturday December 13th v Bolton in the brand new Trinity Lounge, including Disco and buffet.  He has gone to a lot of trouble to get this arranged and so it would be good if we attended, although of course this is not obligatory.

I am awaiting confirmation as to what is involved but from what I understand, there will be a shed load of former players.

I’ll get an email out as soon as I found out more concrete details and what the itinerary will involve.

Please let me know if you are interested in attending this after the Bolton game.  We can consider providing split transport ( an early bus and a late bus ) if necessary depending on interest.  It should make for a good end to the season this side of Christmas.  Let us know……

TRANSPORT TIMES

CORPORATE BOXES

Alan has managed to wangle a fantastic deal at Villa for the North Stand corporate boxes exclusively for supporters clubs!

The £45.00 Inc Vat Per Person, would include a 3 Course Buffet menu and a match programme, Hostess service for drinks with use of the box holders lounge also. The games available on a first come first served basis are as follows,

* Fulham (29.11.08)

Each box seats 6 people. If you are interested come back to me asap with your preferred choice of game and I will try to make the necessary arrangements for you.

If you haven’t experienced this before it really is worth doing. The view is superb, you are in the warm, and the food is excellent!  If you think how much your normal match ticket would cost you, I think you can then realise the true value of the special offer.

TICKETS

After a long fought battle, Villa have now changed their stance on ticket bookings and I am pleased to confirm that as a supporters club, we can now book tickets on your behalf.

We have access to home tickets in blocks A1, A8, L9, R2, and T1.  These are available to us the 1st day they go on priority sale.  We MUST pay for tickets in one go and so if you do require us to book on your behalf, you must let us have you money and choice of game before the booking deadline.  Let us know if you need us to book tickets for you.

You may however where possible try to book yourselves and build up a booking history in your own name. This would be important as Villa (hopefully) progress in competitions and fingers crossed, get to Wembley or any other cup finals, tickets are difficult to obtain and so the stronger your own booking history is, the better.….

Not only that, we can now also get away tickets too!.....

Again, same rules as above.  Let us know if you’re interested.

With lots of new and exciting things in progress behind the scenes for supporters clubs I was thinking how nice it would be if we had our own patron of the Lions clubs. I have a list as long as the Trinity Road in my head of suitable applicants, so I thought I would do the decent thing and let you guys decide who you would like to be the face of the supporters club network.

If you could put this out to your members and see who is your chosen “ hero” we will then add the votes to see who is the outright winner. I will then ask your chosen player if he would do us the honour of being patron of Aston Villa supporters clubs worldwide.

Can each chairperson e mail me their clubs choice no later than 09.00am Thursday 30th October 2008. One chairperson will be drawn at random to come and meet the new patron at Villa Park for the unveiling ceremony.

Many thanks for your help and co operation.

Please see and read the attached with reference to former Holte End hero Paul Birch.

Paul is very ill with cancer, and Chris Cooper from our Yorkshire Lions club branch is embarking on a 500 mile trip to France to raise money for the Paul Birch Trust fund.

Birchy a cult hero with the Holte End to this day, played over 200 times for the Villa and was a energetic terrier like midfielder, who was instrumental in our return to the top flight in 1987 under Graham Taylor. I personally watched Paul in all of his Villa games and i can assure you he gave 110% every time he pulled on the famous claret & Blue shirt. One game that sticks in my mind was the day we played Inter Milan at Villa Park, playing them off the pitch, winning 2-0 with Birchy outclassing the so called world beater Lothar Matthus in midfield.

I am sure all Villa fans around the world would love to help with this venture to give Paul and his little girl with the quality of precious life they deserve together.

You can make a donation direct to the Paul Birch Trust via www.chriscooperevents.com by following the links page on this site. It’s safe, secure and quick.
